Hawthorne was the second liner neighborhood that made a come back. Unlike NW 23rd this area went more counter-culture and never had corporate retail redevelopment until now. You find a range of eaters, shops, youth hostel, entertainment and services along the length of this street. The demand for store frontage finally got high enough that redevelopment spilled over to Belmont and Division. This SW area of Portland is very livable and real estate price show it.
